“The Breasts of the Northwest III” Prospectus/SubmissionForm
Saluta-ta-tations!
The time has come 'round again for the draperies to drop, the shirts to be shed, and the double D's to be displayed! Proudly! Persecution- and prosecution-free!
The Breasts of the Northwest III!
I could wax poetic here and sing you the saga of the beleaguered bosom, but I shall leave that to the blogosphere and the media, where the poor dears' tale has endured debate and discussion the likes of few other features of the feminine form. And alas, I do mean only feminine, as apparently these are especially incendiary.
“Revered, underrated, over-covered, decorated, worshipped, resented, cherished, twisted, admired. They arouse, nurture, aggravate, comfort, inspire. They cause joy, heartache, backache, desire, obsession, fantasy, bankruptcy, embarrassment, confusion, pride. They’re controversial. They’re irresistible. They’re dangerous and harmless. They’re constant companions, old friends, and a pain in the ass for tummy sleepers. Everybody’s born with ‘em, though more than half are destined to remain purely decorative. To what do I refer, you ask? I speak, of course, of the incomprehensible breast.”
We shall once again celebrate the focus of our fancies, and this year with extra support (and foam) for the female front! Decaf, half-caf, with whip or without, our own beautiful bits or a buddy's, we will honor the aesthetic so tragically treated and scandalously stifled.
The concept of the show:
The theme of this show is
simply the name. Whatever that title
inspires you to create is what it’s about.
2-D, 3-D, 6-D, double D, whatever mammaries
move you to produce! A breast or three
in the mix is the only requirement.
Number of pieces:
The space will be
stretched, cajoled, and otherwise maNIPulated to
accommodate up to three pieces from each artist, but if you get swept up in the
fever and produce more, let me know and we’ll see if we can SQUEEZE it in…
Entry:
Entry will be $15, due at art delivery. LAW will provide an email postcard to send out to your email lists, and will distribute a limited number of printed postcards. A 25% commission will be charged on sales, with 10% again donated to Gateway for Cancer Research.
The gallery will be open
Saturdays from 1-5 PM and Sundays 1-4 PM throughout the show,
and as usual by appointment as well.
OKAY, YOU'VE GOTTA
READ THIS PART:
Everything should be ready to hang/display. 2D wall pieces should have wire only on back for hanging (no sawtooth hangers, clips, etc.). If you need assistance with this, let me know! (Curator may decline to display some work submitted due to fragility, display difficulty, space, or if work does not relate to theme. She's pretty easy though. If you're concerned, ask and she'll help!) The signed submission form/inventory list with title, medium, artist and price will need to accompany your work, taped to the back of one of the pieces, along with your check/ entry fee. (This is important! Wall tags will be made with this info.)
So, for the wrap-up:

Thanks so much everyone,
apologies for the late start, though I know of at least a few pieces ready to
hit the gallery as I type! The blessed
breast is in need of a boost in these oppressive times, and what better symbol
for growth and renewal, not to mention fun, freedom and fantasy! Like I said last year, “Show us your
***s”! See you all soon!!
Artfully and sincerely yours,
Jules Anslow
